Hi! You can call me Mara, Ren, or even Phyro if that suits you.
I'm from Mexico and I like to draw stuff to unwind and to reconnect to this passion of mine. I've always loved drawing but I stopped doing it when I was a teen. Now I got the chance to do it again.


I'm an amateur and self-taught artist, so I welcome concrit and drawing requests! You can send your requests via Tumblr ask, Twitter or straw page. My style and posting times will vary a lot until I get enough practice, so I'm thankful for your patience.


Kyojuro Rengoku is my favorite character and I love him deeply. Renkaza is my current pairing hyperfixation. I was a lurker on the fandom until I decided to start posting my art. I'd love to make multifandom art soon, but right now, I'm heavily KNY based.

I have an OC (Hakurei Kishida) which I'll pair with Kyo quite often. I'm also a multishipper and I will probably post Saneren, Sanegiyuu, Rengiyuu or Uzuren in the future.

I try to keep my main socials SFW, but I post NSFW and suggestive art. NSFW is restricted to poipiku only. In all my NSFW art, the characters depicted are consenting adults with no blood ties. If you're a minor, please refrain from interacting with my NSFW art.

I tend to be very private about my personal life, but I enjoy making friends. I'm a Biotech and IE double major, and I love listening to alt music, specially goth, rock, metal and all the in-betweens. I also love cats, reading and commonplacing. You can chat with me in English or Spanish, but I'm eager to learn more languages!

About

Hakurei Kishida (珀玲 岸田) is the Mirage Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps.

On the surface, she is a composed and practical woman who handles her duties with dry wit and analytical focus. Underneath her stoic exterior she's a deeply thoughtful, observant and intensely loyal person. Once someone earns her trust, she reveals her boldness; often showing intense curiosity and passion for any goal she pursues, as well as deep affection and sincerity toward her loved ones.
Hakurei uses Mirage Breathing (蜃気楼の呼吸 - Shinkirō no Kokyū), a Breathing Style inspired by the way light reflects off water to create light-derived forms, "clone" images of herself or to hide her blade’s true reach.
Backstory

Hakurei spent her early childhood on the coast. She loved to observe how the light fractured once it clashed with the waves of the sea, mesmerized by the colorful patterns that emerged within.
Her family life was defined by a majorly loving environment, but with its own difficulties. Her father constantly dismissed her weapon proficiency, urging her to pursue more "feminine" activities, while her mother was overprotective to a fault. She found a mentor in a retired Water Breathing warrior, an outspoken and strong-willed woman who saw Haku’s internal resilience and encouraged her to enter Final Selection.
Determined to prove her worth, Haku left her village to hone her skills and develop Mirage Breathing further. But while she was away, a group of demons decimated her village, killing her mentor in the process. Haku harbored deep survivor's guilt, blaming her absence for her mentor's death. This trauma hardened her into a cynical, self-reliant warrior.
Mirage Breathing (蜃気楼の呼吸 - Shinkirō no Kokyū)
Derived from Water Breathing, this style focuses on optical illusions and light manipulation, often requiring her to use precise footwork and measured blade movements. Her forms are inspired by her observations of nature and sea, and they're carefully documented in her journals.
Weaponry


Hakurei's main weapons are a special Nichirin blade and a Tessen fan. She's also proficient with Naginata staffs, but she only uses them during training or minor missions.


Her Nichirin blade is made with faceted iron and it is slightly flexible. It has a distinct gray smoke color akin to Labradorite that helps her enhance the reflective properties of her blade to favor her Breathing Style. Thus, her sword emits prismatic-like reflections once yielded, and the flexibility aids on complex Breathing forms.

Haku's Tessen fan can serve as a parrying shield or as a long range weapon. She carries it at all times, and it can produce a sudden flash of light when used.
Gyokuran (玉嵐)

Gyokuran (Jewel/Jade Storm) is Haku's Kasugai Crow. He's a juvenile crow that Haku nursed back to health and saved from dying when she was a Kinoe warrior and he was a chick. Gyokuran remembered this gesture and volunteered as her Kasugai crow.

Gyokuran has a grandiose, spoiled and bratty personality with everyone, except with Haku. Despite his toddler-like personality, he is noble and reliable. His trust is hard to earn.

Hakurei often calls him "Ran-ran" and gifts him seashells, shiny sea glass and fruit. He'll chirp to her and nuzzle her neck often or nest in her hair. Their bond is particularly strong, and Haku cherishes Gyokuran as much as he does with her.

If anyone other than Haku tries to call him "Ran-ran", Gyokuran gets extremely angry and starts pecking and cawing.
Kyojuro and Hakurei
Hakurei's relationship with Kyojuro wasn't straightforward. Seeing him hang around Tengen Uzui, Haku initially assumed Kyojuro was vain and full of ego, but this first impression didn't last long.
Her stance shifted the first time he approached her. She was caught off guard by his boisterous but still polite demeanor, his intelligence, and his unwavering sense of responsibility.
As she observed him, her feelings deepened into an intense, secret crush. Convinced that her newfound love was just a distraction for them both, she kept her distance, quietly leaving homemade dishes and sweet treats for Kyojuro whenever she had the chance.
Kyojuro viewed Haku as a reliable and sharp comrade, oblivious to her feelings but drawn to her personality and kind nature. The turning point occurred during a shared meal on a joint mission. Watching Haku light up with joy over the prospect of dessert while discussing complex fight tactics made Kyojuro laugh earnestly and look at her with entirely new eyes.
Soon, both Hashira spent more time together, sharing meals, sparring and even talking until late at night when they were off-duty. Their bond deepened slowly, and as each day went by, they noticed how much they looked forward to seeing each other.
Once established, their relationship helped both grow and learn. Hakurei felt cherished and admired for her skillset and mind, finding in Kyojuro a reliant partner that could truly see her. Kyojuro found a partner who didn't view him as an invincible warrior, but as a man who deserved love, care and comfort just by the mere feat of being him.
Gyokuran and Kyojuro
Gyokuran disliked Kyojuro when he first met him, as he viewed him as an intruder that wanted to steal Haku's attention away from him.
Gyokuran had a hard time getting used to Kyojuro's presence. The first time they met, he pecked him really hard when he tried to earn his favor by calling him "Ran-ran" and offering him some treats. Haku had to bandage Kyojuro's hand while she apologized profusely to him.
After some months, Gyokuran slowly warmed up to Kyojuro's companionship, and he finally showed his acceptance one evening when he perched himself on Kyojuro's shoulder and nuzzled his neck hesitantly. Gyokuran started to warm up to him, eventually accepting him as his second owner. Despite this, his bratty attitude towards Kyojuro never faded.
Trivia

-Her name translates to "Clear Amber of the Shore" directly referencing her amber eyes and childhood by the sea.

-Since Haku's blade color is quite similar to black, some Hashira were perplexed when they noticed the "ill-fated" omen related to its tone.

-She enjoys playing Go and writing her memories in a small journal.

-Her favorite fruit is apricot, but she lied to Kyojuro the first time they met and told him she loved plums. She did so because she was afraid of flirting with him by accident.

-In Kimetsu Gakuen, Hakurei is the Physics teacher. She specializes in Optics and her lab is decorated with shiny wind chimes. Some of them are gifts from Kyojuro.

-Her favorite dessert is Kuzukiri.

-Her biggest dream is to live by the sea with her loved ones and to travel to unknown places.
